A recall of Ford Explorers is being probed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration after two reports of problems after recall-induced repairs.

More than 250,000 2020, 2021 and 2022 Explorers were recalled in the U.S. to prevent the SUVs from continuing to move while in park.

A recall allowed for a software update to engage an electronic parking brake in case of a drive shaft disconnection, a problem tied to a rear axle mounting bolt fracture. But two Explorer owners complained their vehicles acted irregularly after they were repaired, in one case abruptly stopping, in the other suddenly moving on its own.

The NHTSA is investigating the problems, neither of which resulted in injuries.
