IRVINE, Calif. — On Tuesday, Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) launched the Mazda Recall Information Center, in an effort to increase recall completions. Through the website, a customer will be able to easily confirm if his or her vehicle is affected by a recall, and then schedule an appointment for recall repairs, according to the company.

The new website, however, is not the only initiative the company is taking in order to ensure recalls are completed quickly and efficiently.

"In addition to the new Recall Information Center, Mazda is aggressively working to train additional service technicians. We have created online classes and virtual classrooms to further train our outstanding technicians to help speed the repair time and enhance the customer's experience when they bring in their vehicle,” said Robert Davis, vice president of operations.

According to the company, the new website will have a dedicated landing page for each dealer and will provide consumers with a mobile friendly method of verifying the recall status on their vehicles and setting up appointments.

Mazda’s efforts come after a record-setting year for recalls in 2015. According to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration, more than 51 million vehicles had recalls issued in that year, the most-ever in a year.

These recalls not only pose potential safety issues for consumers, they have already begun to adversely affect dealers. A study from J.D. Power earlier this year found that customer satisfaction with dealer service declined for the first time in six years due to issues related to recalls.

Consumers interested in checking for any open recalls on their vehicles can enter their VIN numbers into Mazda’s new recall status website.
