Canadian automotive union Unifor reached a contract agreement with Jeep maker Stellantis just hours after striking the automaker that was one of the three facing United Auto Workers strikes for six weeks.

Unifor’s tentative agreement follows particulars hammered out earlier in contracts with Ford and General Motors, the union said. Stellantis has the biggest presence in Canada of the three Detroit-focused automakers, and its contract with Unifor covers 8,200 workers.

“The agreement puts in place all the elements of our pattern agreement, the protections autoworkers need throughout the EV transition, and next-generation products our members will build for years to come,” said Unifor Stellantis Master Bargaining Chairman James Stewart in a statement.

The contract, which awaits member ratification, includes up to 25% pay increases, resumption of a cost-of-living allowance, and pension plan improvements, Unifor said.

Amsterdam-based Stellantis is a multinational company.
