Expanding on an earlier callback, Toyota recalled nearly 127,000 vehicles to address an engine issue that could cause stalling.

The Tundra and Lexus models with V35A engines may contain debris left over from the production process that could lead to main bearing failure.

Drivers of the vehicles may hear engine knocking or rough running, or the vehicles may fail to start or could stall while in operation.

Units of the same engine made before the production period of the recalled vehicles were themselves recalled, while production processes for later units were improved and other units made with improved bearings, Toyota said in recall documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The automaker didn’t indicate in the documents whether there have been reports of crashes or injuries related to the issue.

It recalled the 2022 to 2024 Tundra and Lexus LX and the 2024 Lexus GX with V35A engines while it develops a remedy

Safety notices are scheduled to be mailed to owners on Dec. 22, and recall notices will follow when the remedy is ready.
