Ind. Dealer Ordered to Pay $130K in Customer Reimbursements

Indiana law enforcement officials announced on Monday that a used-car dealership has agreed to send $34 refunds to customers it allegedly overcharged for document fees.

INDIANAPOLIS — A joint state investigation found that clients of The Auto Park of Plymouth were being overcharged for document fees. The dealer, as part of a settlement, agreed to pay $130,000 to reimburse those customers, reports WSBT.com.

Investigators found that The Auto Park was charging customers exorbitant amount in document-preparation fees, about $228 between Nov. 1, 2010, and Nov. 1, 2012, as a condition of the sale and delivery of a car. Investigators determined the fees were not reasonably related to document preparation.
