More than 350,000 Ford pickups have been recalled to fix a software problem that can cause instrument panel display failure.
The Detroit-area automaker said the entire recalled population of trucks has the problem and require software updates. It affects the 2025 F-150 and the 2025 and 2026 F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD and F-550 SD.
Ford became aware of the issue this spring and determined affected trucks can start with a blank panel screen without warning, the problem apparently worsening as a truck ages. It had gotten about 100 warranty claims connected to the issue but was aware of no related crashes or injuries.
The instrument panel software was introduced into production last summer and was removed from production in late July.
Ford identified a memory-protection fault in the instrument panel software, which it will remedy with over-the-air updates or through its dealers. The automaker is scheduled to mail recall notices to owners on Sept. 2.
