An eastern Alabama auto dealership acquired two franchises from a fellow Anniston dealer who’s retiring to more than double its inventory.

Cooper Chevrolet Buick, in business for nearly 50 years, picked up Superior Automotive’s GMC and Hyundai franchises and rebranded itself to Cooper Auto Family.

It will move the GMC franchise to its main dealership on South Quintard Avenue in Anniston, to add to its Chevrolet and Buick brands there. The store will now operate as Cooper Chevrolet Buick GMC.

The Hyundai franchise will stay at its current location on the same street under the new name of Cooper Hyundai.

“Bringing all of General Motors' top brands under one roof allows us to offer unmatched convenience and selection to our customers,” said auto group owner and President Gregg Montgomery. “Plus, adding Hyundai, a brand known for its state-of-the-art technology, reliability, and stylish designs, provides an exciting new option for shoppers seeking innovative and high-quality vehicles.” 

Cooper opened for business in 1977, serving Anniston and Oxford in northeastern Alabama, along with surrounding areas in the eastern part of the state. It also operates a “CarBravo” certified preowned lot and two other used-vehicle lots.
